God has to be working...(4/5)

God has to be working because satan is trying to pull out all his tricks.  Our "neuro meeting" that was supposed to happen at 6 am, well the neuro team didn't show up til8:50 am.  Right off the bat I was told my son doesn't experience ANY organized brain activity, ONLY seizures.  He has no quality of life, just pure devastation. I should think about what would I want, would I want to live a life full of seizures or get to die? If God wanted to perform
a miracle He'd do it regardless of what we were providing, medication or oxygen wise (which I agree with, but I also believe in God's timing and His way, not do it like this and ... Now) ... Mind you, we requested to meet with team  to ask questions about his phenibarb levels and EEGs. So once I got to ask my questions, the answers consisted of "well there's no organized brain activity so it really isn't necessary" after they left, thatcher has struggled off and on with "striders" ( a gasp, wheezing sound) that indicates some sort of airway issue and he has had 3 or so apnec episodes (stops breathing, turns blue).  Like I said, the evil one has definitely been on the prowl.

Nonetheless, we are trying nasal cannula.  They want to see how he does.  We have no idea what God is doing or how He is going about doing it. We do know that our creator is in control, that He is here and He is working!! We are trusting Him! We will not be made to feel guilty for choosing life for our son!! God has used Thatcher  to touch people's lives in ways I could have never imagined! How can you not believe He is working when you look at that?!? Thousands of people are being joined together in prayer, praises, petitions to our heavenly father because of one special little dude... Where is the devastation in that?!?

Abba, daddy, we may not know what you are doing or understand why, but it is evident Your hand is resting on sweet Thatcher Caleb's life.  Lord, please continue to find compassion on your tiny servant. Reach in and open his airway, cast out the seizures, generate brain tissue.  Lord, heal him from the inside out. Use your child to bring glory to your name.  Allow your presence to be so thick in this place that it is hard to move! We love you, Lord. We trust you. In your sweet son, Jesus's name we pray. Amen!

  2. "For the foolishness of God is wiser than man's wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man's strength." I Corinthians 1:25 This scripture has always helped me when the world is screaming human reasoning in my ear. I am agreeing in prayer with you as you wait on the Lord for Him to "...call into existence the things that do not exist." (Romans 4:17)

  3. Satan this family and thousands of Gods children are praying for his healing. We rebuke you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, you have NO Authority over this child or his parents and grandparents.. he is GODS child and he serves him. Glory be to God in the Highest. Shine your loving light and surround the NICU and dear Thatcher. This child is yours and each day his mother and father see your works, eye concact, a flintch from sound. Your footprints are all over the room, cradle their babe in your loving hands, I pray your will be done, I pray you will heal this child, for they all serve you in all they do. Please give Whit and Eric rest for their bodies, minds and souls. They will never give up, Just as you have never given up on us.
God Bless on this Easter Weekend.

I thought I would send along my favorite bible story as a reminder of our Lord's goodness and control over all.
Keep remembering that God has a plan for Thatcher~ allow and trust Him to fight the battle for you!
    Chronicles 20
2 Some people came and told Jehoshaphat, “A vast army is coming against you from Edom,[b] from the other side of the Dead Sea. It is already in Hazezon Tamar” (that is, En Gedi). 3 Alarmed, Jehoshaphat resolved to inquire of the LORD, and he proclaimed a fast for all Judah. 4 The people of Judah came together to seek help from the LORD; indeed, they came from every town in Judah to seek him.
5 Then Jehoshaphat stood up in the assembly of Judah and Jerusalem at the temple of the LORD in the front of the new courtyard 6 and said:
“LORD, the God of our ancestors, are you not the God who is in heaven? You rule over all the kingdoms of the nations. Power and might are in your hand, and no one can withstand you. 7 Our God, did you not drive out the inhabitants of this land before your people Israel and give it forever to the descendants of Abraham your friend? 8 They have lived in it and have built in it a sanctuary for your Name, saying, 9 ‘If calamity comes upon us, whether the sword of judgment, or plague or famine, we will stand in your presence before this temple that bears your Name and will cry out to you in our distress, and you will hear us and save us.’
10 “But now here are men from Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir, whose territory you would not allow Israel to invade when they came from Egypt; so they turned away from them and did not destroy them. 11 See how they are repaying us by coming to drive us out of the possession you gave us as an inheritance. 12 Our God, will you not judge them? For we have no power to face this vast army that is attacking us. We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” (I love this!!)
13 All the men of Judah, with their wives and children and little ones, stood there before the LORD.
14 Then the Spirit of the LORD came on Jahaziel son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite and descendant of Asaph, as he stood in the assembly.
15 He said: “Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem! This is what the LORD says to you: ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s. 16 Tomorrow march down against them. They will be climbing up by the Pass of Ziz, and you will find them at the end of the gorge in the Desert of Jeruel. 17 You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the LORD will give you, Judah and Jerusalem. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Go out to face them tomorrow, and the LORD will be with you.’”
18 Jehoshaphat bowed down with his face to the ground, and all the people of Judah and Jerusalem fell down in worship before the LORD. 19 Then some Levites from the Kohathites and Korahites stood up and praised the LORD, the God of Israel, with a very loud voice.
20 Early in the morning they left for the Desert of Tekoa. As they set out, Jehoshaphat stood and said, “Listen to me, Judah and people of Jerusalem! Have faith in the LORD your God and you will be upheld; have faith in his prophets and you will be successful.” 21 After consulting the people, Jehoshaphat appointed men to sing to the LORD and to praise him for the splendor of his[c] holiness as they went out at the head of the army, saying:
    “Give thanks to the LORD,
    for his love endures forever.”
22 As they began to sing and praise, the LORD set ambushes against the men of Ammon and Moab and Mount Seir who were invading Judah, and they were defeated. 23 The Ammonites and Moabites rose up against the men from Mount Seir to destroy and annihilate them. After they finished slaughtering the men from Seir, they helped to destroy one another.

  6. I've often thought that God doesn't select the child that parents will have, but instead selects the parents for the child. I believe that God chose you both as the perfect parents for sweet baby Thatcher Caleb knowing that you will provide him the love and support he so richly deserves. Enjoy your son, this beautiful baby boy God has so generously blessed you with this Easter weekend.

  8. Garrett and I are still praying for you and your sweet boy. You're doing right in fighting for him. Sometimes we have to be warriors for our children and not let anyone bully us. Praying that you find a man/woman of peace in the hospital that will give you both encouragement to keep on keeping on and good advice.

  9. Eric and Whitney, I am a friend of little Thatcher's Uncle Blake. By word of mouth, there are many of us out there praying for your family. What a testimony of faith you all are to many who read your blogs! Your blogs are a blessing and loads of encouragement to parents who have children in the NICU or have special children like little Thatcher. May God just pour out His Blessings upon you all. Little Thatcher is safe in the arms of Jesus!I'm glad for that because of some of the thoughts and opinions you all are dealing with just aren't so pleasant. Keep up the good fight...Onward Christian Soldiers!! from Donna Shea

  10. Listen to your Doctors. They know what they are talking about. Do not make the kid suffer and feel pain if it is not necessary to do so. In Jesus name

  12. Hi Eric and Whitney,
I just wanted you to know I am praying for the three of you. A reader from my blog asked me to pray for you guys because we lived in the hospital with our son for 5.5 months a little over 5 years ago. LITERALLY, IF YOU NEED ANYTHING OR SOMEONE JUST TO VENT TO OR ASK QUESTIONS OR PRAY OR WHATEVER, we have walked very, very similar roads. Unfortunately I understand every medical term and every heart cry. Please know you are being prayed for in CO by a family who knows our words can't fix it but that our God is so very awesome and loving and real and even though I wouldn't run the Universe the same way He does on certain days, we trust that He is good and loves us more than we can even fathom...and He feels the very same way about you three! He's totally and completely in love with your sweet son! Praying. Totally praying! xoxox

  14. There is always a purpose, a reason, and a season. The saints stand with you in prayer. We know God is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, more than we could ever think or ask. I have walked on this path to see God manifest in his power and all for His glory.
